Our History
1890
From Val Taleggio to Texas
At the end of the 19th century, Battista Arrigoni, following the typical migration flow of the time, left Val Taleggio and arrived in Texas at the age of 15. However, his American experience lasted only a few years.
1914
The Company is Born
The call to arms forced Battista to return to Italy for military service. Coming back to Italy meant a lot to him, and he settled in Pagazzano, where he founded the Arrigoni Battista company.
1920
From Land to Milk
Initially focused on agriculture, the company started equipping itself to become a milk processing business.
1935
From Barn to Dairy
The small dairy was located in the centre of Pagazzano, right next to the barns for cows and pigs. Here, several products were made, especially Taleggio, whose recipe was well known to the Arrigoni family, along with hard cheeses for grating, some of which were exported abroad.
1950
A Growing Production
Production expanded to include other excellent cheeses such as Grana Padano (not yet protected by a consortium) and Gorgonzola.
1955
Taleggio for Major Brands
Arrigoni Battista became a Taleggio supplier for well-known commercial brands. This choice led to a significant increase in production volumes. The company decided to relocate its farms and expand its production site. This dairy, in use until the late 1990s, represented the family’s firm decision to become a major player in the dairy industry, especially in the Taleggio market.
1980
Partnering with Retail
Arrigoni Battista was ahead of its time, becoming one of the first partners of large-scale retailers in the development of Private Labels. This strategy has been maintained over the years, securing the company’s leadership in this sector for certain products.
2003
The New Dairy
The new production site in Pagazzano was inaugurated. The facilities, designed with a modern approach, cover an area of 60,000 sqm, with 15,000 sqm indoors, ensuring the high-quality standards of our products.
2014
100 Years of History
In 2014, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary: a century of producing typical cheeses from the Lombardy region, between PDO specialities and innovative recipes.
